...Whether or not Sor left Paris again is a question for which no definite answer can yet be provided. There is a possibility that Sor returned to London and engaged in a rivalry there with Mauro Giuliani. Many references attest to this famous and colorful, if questionable, "rivalry" of Sor and Giuliani. There is ample room for doubt that such an incident ever occurred...

Probably no other figure in the history of the guitar holds so much interest for the music historian as does Fernando Sor, the legendary Catalan composer and guitarist. His compositions for the guitar maintain the interest and command the respect of guitarists to a degree unmatched by any other composer for the instrument. It is no accident that this is so, for Sor's compositions are among the major creations of guitar literature. These works, ranging in size from tiny minuets to large-scale sonatas for the instrument, represent a legacy of vast importance to guitarists...
