1979 Jeff Newman Pedal Steel Guitar Lesson - How to use chromatic strings

If you play pedal steel guitar you are undoubtedly aware of what the term "chromatics" means. When I first started playing there wasn't yet such a thing as chromatic tuning on any steel guitar...I finally learned that they are the first two strings on the E9 tuning, F# and D#...The true E9 tuning starts on the third string (G#), and the chromatic strings are on the outside. This in itself causes most new pedal steel fans to give up the ghost when they first start to play...
