1978 Now Alvarez Yairi Guitars have Brass Nuts and saddles

Most guitars come with plastic nuts and saddles. Some better quality guitars are equipped with solid bone nuts and saddles, as are all Alvarez Yairi instruments. Bone gives a good mellow sound with excellent projection. However, through extensive research, we have found that solid bell brass nuts and saddles give our 6 string dreadnought guitars an intirely new dimension. Solid bell brass boosts the treble tones making them crisp and lively. Brass also makes the mid range brighter and reduces unwanted bass overtones. So you get a more balanced tone overall, and that is an ideal sound for a flat picker, especially for lead runs and solos. The sustain quality of bell brass is also superior to bone. Brass nuts and saddles are the ultimate answer for bottle neck styles because they increase the volume and accentuate the individual string tone response. Brass nuts and saddles have another indisputable advantage. They are extremely durable...not subject to wear and tear from string pressure as plastic and other substitute materials are. So...brass nuts and saddles are not for everyone, but they might be just the sound for you!
